At New Branches Charter Academy, GSRP students will see themselves and be seen by others as confident, capable, and motivated learners; as evidenced by meeting or exceeding kindergarten readiness standards.

Required Documents
Please Note: Your Child's Application will not be processed until the following documents are provided.
- Proof of birth: copy of legal birth certificate, passport, hospital record, baptismal record or other government form
- Proof of income: income tax form, W-2, pay stub, unemployment, written statement from employer, foster care reimbursement, SSI documentation, child support, alimony, or pensions
- Proof of residency: drivers license with current address, current utility bill, rent receipt, tax bill or land contract
- Most recent Physical or Well-child Checkup or Health Appraisal form
- Immunization Record
- If your child has an IEP we will need a copy

We are now recognized as a Great Start to Quality program for our commitment to Program Quality Improvement.
Great Start to Quality (GSQ) helps strengthen high quality early learning experiences for Michigan children by supporting early care and education providers and helping families connect with the best options for
their children.
To do this, GSQ along with providers and partners, have developed a continuous quality improvement process with Quality Levels. Every GSQ provider is licensed through the State of Michigan and is required to maintain a healthy and safe learning environment.
Measuring Your Child’s Growth
We carefully monitor and report student progress to ensure kindergarten readiness. Families receive regular progress updates so you can celebrate growth and stay informed.
Children’s development is assessed in the following areas:
- Developmental Areas: Social-emotional, Physical, Language, and Cognitive.
- Academic Content Areas: Literacy, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, and English speaking skills.
Our Teachers & Classrooms
Our GSRP program utilizes a research-based curriculum aligned with Michigan’s Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Prekindergarten (ECSQ-PK).
- Two teachers in every classroom
- 1:8 adult-to-child ratio
- Highly qualified teachers with degrees in early childhood education
- Structured, consistent daily routines
Each day includes: Large and small group activities, Daily free-choice time, and Outdoor play.
Important GSRP Placement Information
GSRP eligibility and placement are managed by Kent ISD. Submitting an application to New Branches Charter Academy does not guarantee placement at NBCA. After your application is reviewed, Kent ISD will determine eligibility and communicate placement information directly with families.
NEW BRANCHES IS NOT IN CHARGE OF CHOOSING PRESCHOOLERS. THE KENT ISD PLACES PRESCHOOLERS AND WILL NOTIFY FAMILIES AS SOON AS THEIR CHILD HAS BEEN PLACED, THROUGH EMAIL. PLACEMENT BEGINS IN JULY
