Middle School Athletic Programs
Currently, New Branches Charter Academy offers the following sports programs:
Girls Volleyball (Fall season)
Boys Basketball (Fall)
Girls Basketball (Winter)
All sports require an updated Sports Physical each year in order for athletes to participate. There is a $50 Pay-to-Play fee per year for students to participate in a sport and is required to be paid prior to the first day of practice. This fee helps to pay for additional costs to offer our programs (uniforms, referee fees, etc.). Uniforms are provided for each sport. Students are required to provide their own sport appropriate footwear.
Students and parents must read, sign, and submit the Parent/Student Agreement form prior to the first day of practice. Student eligibility to play in games is determined by the classroom teachers and athletic director on a weekly basis. Eligibility is based on grades and behavior.
Sports physicals, $50 Pay-to-Play fee and form, and the Parent/Student Agreement are due to the Main Office by Friday, September 9th. You can have a sports physical done at your family doctor or walk in at an Urgent Care/Med Center. Checks payable to New Branches Charter Academy.
Middle School Girls Volleyball kicks off their season on Friday, September 9th with their annual Skills Bootcamp from 3:15-5pm in the Gym. Students cannot practice until all forms and money are turned in. Please bring appropriate clothing and shoes.
Boys Soccer Club
All middle school boys interested in participating in the Soccer Club must turn in a Parent/Student Agreement before they are allowed to play. These forms can be found and turned in to the Main Office.
The first date for the Middle School Boys Soccer Club will be Tuesday, September 13 from 3:30-4:30pm at the soccer field behind New Branches. Soccer Club will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30pm until the end of October. Please bring appropriate clothing and cleats/tennis shoes.
Grades 3-5 Intramurals
We are in the process of looking for a few parents to volunteer their time to help Mr. Henderson coordinate the first-ever Intramural Program at New Branches. These parent volunteers would be responsible for helping create and run the program a couple of days a week after school. Sports could include basketball, soccer, flag football, and/or volleyball. If interested, or have questions, please contact Mr. Mercado at 616-855-7799 or email him firstname.lastname@example.org.
